KDE Gear 25.08.1 Released with More Improvements for Your Favorite KDE Apps – 9to5Linux

The KDE Project released today KDE Gear 25.08.1 as the first maintenance update to the latest KDE Gear 25.08 open-source software suite series to address various issues in your favorite KDE apps.

KDE Gear 25.08.1 is here to fix an issue in the KTorrent app that caused it to constantly write to a magnet file, fix an issue with the account moderation tools page in the Tokodon app, and fix an infinite loop in git blame in the Kate text editor that occurred when using the Flatpak version.

The Ark archive manager has been updated to use the proper API to hide finished notifications, the Kasts podcast client no longer defaults to QtMultimedia as the audio backend, Dragon Player received a workaround for texture problems on AMD GPUs, and ffmpegthumbs got build fixes backported from FFmpeg 8.0.

KDE Gear 25.08.1 also prevents a crash in the Umbrello IDE that occurred when opening a new file when a modified document is canceled, improves Konqueror’s sidebar context menu to work on Wayland, and fixes a fade-out bug in Gwenview’s video player controls when used in comparison mode.

On top of that, the Dolphin file manager received a fix for a double scroll distance issue and a crash between the selection mode and the folder icon chooser, KDE Itinerary’s rich text detection heuristics have been improved, and the Kdenlive video editor received full-width support for the curve editors and high-resolution icons.

Apps like AudioTube, Kamoso, KDevelop, Kleopatra, KMail, KolourPaint, KOrganizer, Merkuro, NeoChat, KRDC, Kontact, and KTouch, as well as related libraries or other components, have also been updated in this release, so check out the full changelog for more details.

Meanwhile, keep an eye on the stable software repositories of your favorite GNU/Linux distribution for the KDE Gear 25.08.1 packages and update your installations as soon as possible for the best KDE apps experience, especially if you’re using the KDE Plasma desktop environment.
