Hyprland 0.51 was released today for this independent, highly customizable, dynamic tiling Wayland compositor for GNU/Linux distributions that introduces unique features and enhancements.
Hyprland 0.51 is here to introduce several new features, such as support for fully configurable trackpad gestures, support for setting the scroll factor per device, an ignoremaster option to swapwithmaster, a cursor:invisible option to allow hiding the cursor, and support for DPMS animations.
This release also updates the virtual keyboard with new options to skip releasing pressed keys on close and to skip sharing key states, adds a new novrr dynamic window rule for blocking VRR (Variable Refresh Rate), and introduces a misc:screencopy_force_8b option that forces the screencopy tool to do 8-bit screensharing, which is done through PipeWire on Wayland, to fix 10-bit screensharing issues, especially with Firefox and Chromium.
On top of that, Hyprland 0.51 introduces fade-in and fade-out effects to animate pop-ups, adds a dim_modal configuration option, improves the default zoom animation, and adds a new previous mode to the existing focusmaster master layout command/layout message.
Of course, there are also various rendering improvements and numerous bug fixes, so check out the release notes on the project’s GitHub page for more details about the changes included in Hyprland 0.51, which you can download as a source tarball from the same location if you fancy compiling it from sources.
For those new to Hyprland, this dynamic tiling Wayland compositor promises to provide you with the latest Wayland features, being highly customizable, supporting the most powerful plugins, easy IPC, and much more QoL (Quality of Life) stuff than other compositors.
