Debian 13.1 “Trixie” Released with 71 Bug Fixes and 16 Security Updates – 9to5Linux

Today, the Debian Project announced the release and general availability of Debian 13.1 as the first ISO update to the latest Debian GNU/Linux 13.1 “Trixie” operating system series.

Debian 13.1 is here less than a month after Debian 13, providing an updated installation media to those who want to deploy the latest Debian Trixie operating system on new hardware and who had issues with the previous ISO images or don’t want to download hundreds of updates from the repositories after the installation.

In numbers, Debian 13.1 includes a total of 71 bug fixes for miscellaneous packages and 16 security updates. Details about these security and miscellaneous bug fixes can be found on the release announcement page.

Installation images will be available for download for 64-bit (amd64), 32-bit (i386), PowerPC 64-bit Little Endian (ppc64el), IBM System z (s390x), MIPS 64-bit Little Endian (mips64el), MIPS 32-bit Little Endian (mipsel), MIPS, ARMel, ARMhf, and AArch64 (arm64) hardware architectures.

Live images of Debian 13.1 will also be available for download, but only for 64-bit systems, preinstalled with the KDE Plasma 6.3, GNOME 48, Xfce 4.20, Cinnamon 6.4, LXQt 2.1, MATE 1.26.1, and LXDE 13 desktop environments. A “Standard” live ISO image is also available for download without a graphical environment.

Existing Debian 13 “Trixie” users should only update their installations by running the sudo apt update && sudo apt full-upgrade commands in a terminal emulator or virtual console. You can also use a graphical package manager, such as Synaptic Package Manager, to update your installations.
