This is your friendly reminder that there’s a new ISO snapshot available for the Arch Linux distribution, for September 2025, which is powered by the latest and greatest Linux 6.16 kernel series.
Arch Linux 2025.09.01 is out today as the first Arch Linux ISO release to be powered by Linux kernel 6.16, which should give users a boost when detecting hardware, especially on newer devices, but especially on older ones where previous Arch Linux ISOs failed to detect some of the components.
The Arch Linux ISO snapshot for September 2025 also includes the latest Archinstall 3.0.9 menu-based installer, which introduces an interface to change LUKS iteration time, support for U2F authentication, as well as Bluetooth support to allow you to set up a Bluetooth connection during installation.
The Archinstall 3.0.9 installer also features a --skip-boot option to allow you to bypass the installation of a bootloader, support for installing the inotify-tools package along with grub-btrfs when using the GRUB bootloader with a Btrfs setup, and improved support for the COSMIC desktop environment.
These changes in the Archinstall installer, along with various bug fixes and other core changes, should enhance the Arch Linux installation experience for both newcomers and experienced users. Of course, Arch Linux 2025.09.01 also includes all the updated packages released in August 2025 on the official repositories.
You can download Arch Linux 2025.09.01 right now from the official website. Keep in mind, though, that this ISO release is here only for new installations, as existing Arch Linux users can keep their systems up to date by running the sudo pacman -Syu command in their favorite terminal emulator.
