OBS Studio 32.0 Enters Public Beta Testing with a Basic Plugin Manager – 9to5Linux

OBS Studio 32.0 has entered public beta testing today for this powerful, open-source, cross-platform, and free software for video recording and live streaming on Linux, macOS, and Windows systems.

OBS Studio 32.0 promises several new features, including Voice Activity Detection (VAD) for NVIDIA RTX Audio Effects, which improves noise suppression for speech, Hybrid MOV support, a basic plugin manager, and chair removal option for NVIDIA RTX Background Removal, allowing the removal of chairs.

It also promises custom OBS widgets in preparation for larger UI updates, improved format selection for PipeWire video capture, improved accuracy of chapter markers in Hybrid MP4/MOV, updated default settings for AMD encoders, and preparations for the Metal renderer.

On top of that, OBS Studio 32.0 will improve audio deduplication logic to cover more cases of nested scenes, groups, and multiple canvases, no longer load plugins built for a newer release of OBS to prevent future compatibility issues, and prevent audio duplication when sources are set to “Monitor and Output” while the monitoring device is also being captured.

OBS Studio 32.0 also promises to implement an opt-in automatic crash log upload mechanism on macOS and Windows systems, re-hide the cursor in edit fields on macOS systems, and fix multiple bugs, crashes, and other issues that have been reported by users from previous OBS Studio releases.

Check out the project’s GitHub page for a complete list of changes included in OBS Studio 32.0 beta, which you can download as ready-to-use binaries for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS systems, as well as for Windows and macOS systems. However, please try to keep in mind that this is a pre-release version, so don’t use it in production environments.
